Rockwell Automation was founded in 1903 and is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. It is one of the world's leading providers of industrial automation and digital transformation solutions. The company initially focused on motor control, industrial automation equipment, and aviation navigation system development, gradually expanding into PLCs, HMIs, industrial software, and smart manufacturing solutions.
In 1985, Rockwell acquired Allen-Bradley, another century-old company, officially entering the industrial automation industry and continuing to use the Allen-Bradley brand. In 1999, it acquired Enterprise Technology Group, which developed manufacturing execution system software; Anorad Corporation, which specialized in linear motors and position control; Dynapro, which focused on human-machine interface products; and EJA, which dealt with security systems;
In 2000, it acquired ENTEK, known for shaft vibration measurement and control; Systems Modeling Corporation, renowned for simulation software; and Sequencia, which develops batch processing software, marking its entry into the field of continuous process control. In 2002, it acquired Tesch (Germany), which develops safety systems, and PropackData, which has consistently provided manufacturing execution system solutions. In 2005, it acquired DataSweep, a provider of manufacturing information solutions, and in 2006, it acquired GEPAmbH, a provider of manufacturing management software.
Through strategic acquisitions and technological innovation, Rockwell Automation has built a complete product ecosystem covering industrial control, smart manufacturing, and industrial IoT. Its core businesses include PLC control systems, industrial software, HMI, security solutions, and cloud manufacturing platforms.
