Function & Application
The APF195 (Model 204-195-000-021) is a 24 VDC, 0.26 A power converter. Its single output terminal can be used to power any device requiring a 24 VDC supply with a current demand not exceeding 0.13 A (3.1 W)—such as GSI-type electrical isolation units. The two output terminals of the APF195 can be connected in parallel to provide a combined current output of up to 0.26 A (6.2 W). Protected by a transparent plastic cover, the APF195 features DIN rail mounting and is typically installed within control cabinets that house other equipment, such as VM600Mk2/VM600 and/or VibroSmart® monitoring systems. The APF195 (Model 204-195-000-021) converter is based on the Model 20 IMX 7-24-24-9 converter manufactured by Power-One. The IMX 7 series converters cover an extremely wide input voltage range—from 8.4 VDC to 150 VDC—and provide electrical isolation between the input and control terminals. They feature high conversion efficiency, adjustable output voltage, flexible output load sharing, and built-in protection functions against no-load conditions, overloads, and short circuits. These converters are suitable for both mobile and stationary applications across various sectors—including transportation, railways, industrial automation, and telecommunications—and are particularly well-suited for environments characterized by significant input voltage fluctuations or the presence of high transient voltages. Application Case and Experience During plant installation, we observed that when powering two GSI127 isolation units, installing two APF195 power supplies to operate in parallel was more effective in meeting the transient surge current demands of the two GSI127 units at the moment of power-up; failure to do so would otherwise result in a short circuit.
