Function & Details

The MPC4 200-510-071-113 is a mechanical protection card belonging to the VM600 series. The MPC4 protection card can simultaneously measure and monitor four dynamic signal inputs and two speed inputs. The dynamic signal inputs can be configured according to specific field requirements, allowing them to receive signals acquired from various sensors—including accelerometers, velocity sensors, and displacement (eddy current) sensors. The speed (tachometer) inputs accept signals from a wide range of speed sensors—including eddy-current probes, magnetic pulse sensors, and TTL signals—and also support fractional speed-ratio configuration.

Upon power-up, the MPC4 200-510-071-113 protection card automatically performs self-tests and diagnostics. Furthermore, the card features a built-in "OK System" function that continuously monitors signal levels throughout the entire measurement chain—encompassing sensors, signal conditioners, and cabling. Should any issues be detected—such as a broken transmission line, sensor failure, or signal conditioner anomaly—the card immediately issues a command, thereby effectively safeguarding downstream precision machinery.

The MPC4 card is available in three versions: Standard, Isolated Circuit, and Safety (SIL). All versions can be used in card pairs with the corresponding IOC4T input/output card.

  • The standard MPC4(200-510-SSS-1Hh) card is the original version, supporting all functions and processing modes. It is suitable for safety systems using VM600 racks with limited card capacity. When a CPUx card serves as the rack controller in the VM600 rack, software configuration can be performed via VME or RS-232.
  • The Separate circuits MPC4(200-510-SSS-2Hh).
  • The Safety (SIL) MPC4(200-510-SSS-3Hh) card was developed to offer broader installation options. The MPC4SIL card lacks a VME-compatible slave interface, does not support tachometer (speed) channels, and does not possess all signal processing capabilities of the standard MPC4 card. When both condition monitoring cards (e.g., XMx16) and relay cards (e.g., IRC4) are installed in the VM600 rack, to achieve safety certification for these configurations, the MPC4SIL must be isolated from other cards in the VM600 rack. This isolation prevents the possibility of accidental configuration modifications.
