125680-01: internal termination, no more external block


The 125680-01 is a Proximitor I/O module for Bently Nevada's 3500 system. The main difference from older Proximitor cards is right in the name: the terminations are inside the module.

If you've worked with the external termination version, you know it means an extra block, extra wires, and one more thing to check during troubleshooting. That external block takes up DIN rail space and adds another potential failure point. This version gets rid of that. You wire the probe directly to the module, and the module handles impedance matching internally.

Signal-wise, it still does what a Proximitor card should do — drive the probe, condition the signal, and feed it into the monitoring rack. Nothing new there. The change is purely about installation and maintenance.

The internal termination is fixed for standard Bently Nevada proximity probes, covering most 3300 and 3300 XL series. If you are using a non-standard probe, double-check compatibility first. Most of the time it's a straight swap, but it never hurts to look up the probe's recommended termination resistance.

The module fits into any 3500 rack slot that accepts I/O modules. The faceplate layout is similar to other Proximitor cards, so no retraining needed. You land the probe leads directly on the front terminals. No extra jumpers, no external resistor packs to lose.

Stock-wise, it's available now. Lead time is about five to seven working days. The card itself is around 0.2 kg, though shipping brings it to about 2 kg.

One practical benefit: troubleshooting gets a bit faster. When you see an odd reading, you don't have to check whether the external termination block has a loose wire. That's one less place to look. Some maintenance teams appreciate that during outage turnarounds.

If you are replacing an older module that used external termination, the swap is usually straightforward. Power down the rack, pull the old card, slide in the 125680-01, and land the probe wires. The rack configuration and alarm settings typically stay the same.

Bottom line — this module doesn't do anything magic. It just removes a small hassle. For people who have terminated enough probes in tight cabinets, that's enough.
