The 07KT98 Base Unit is powered by 24 V DC and can be used as:
1. A bus master in the Advant Controller 31 distributed automation system
2. A slave (remote processor) in the Advant Controller 31 distributed automation system
3. A standalone base unit.

• 24 digital inputs with LED display
• 16 digital transistor outputs with LED display
• 8 digital inputs/outputs with LED display
• 8 individually configurable analog inputs, 4 individually configurable analog outputs
• 2 counters with a counting frequency of up to 50 kHz, configurable in 7 different operating modes
• 1 CS31 system bus interface for system expansion
• 1 interface for connecting a communication module (e.g., 07KP90)
• 2 serial interfaces COM1 and COM2, which can be used as MODBUS interfaces for programming and test functions or as freely programmable interfaces
• Real-time clock
• LEDs for operating status and error messages
• Removable screw terminals
• The device can be screwed or snapped onto a DIN rail
• A 07LE90 lithium battery can be inserted into the battery compartment to store and back up additional data contained in the RAM and the backup time and date
• Run/Stop switch for starting and stopping program execution
• Extensive diagnostic functions: including basic unit self-diagnostics, CS31 system bus, and connected modules
• Integrated Flash EPROM for storing programs and data
• Interchangeable Smart Media Card 07 MC 90 for storing user data or updating the operating system or PLC program

Precautions when project planning and startup:
• The unit is programmed using AC31 programming software, which runs on an IBM-compatible commercial PC (see the documentation for programming system 907 AC 1131).
• Online program modification allows for quick modification of user programs without interrupting operation.
• Data is saved during power cycle, with backup via an internal battery and/or Flash EPROM.
• When using the PROFIBUS DP interface, connection to the CS31 system bus is via a 3-pole removable terminal block.

• All AC31 devices, whether master or slave, are connected via a twisted-pair bus. The connections are as follows:
– One bus wire is connected via the BUS1 terminals of all devices to be connected to the CS31 system bus.
– The other bus wire is connected via the BUS2 terminals of all devices to be connected to the CS31 system bus.
