Function & Details

The IS420ESWBH3A is a 16-port Ethernet/IONet switch used in the GE Mark VIe safety control system. It primarily connects GE UCSB controllers to various I/O modules, ensuring efficient data acquisition and real-time control. It is widely used in gas turbine/steam turbine power generation. The data transmitted between the controller and I/O modules includes input/output data from field devices, I/O module configuration and operating status, and controller redundancy information. This module is an industrial-grade unmanaged 10/100 Ethernet switch, mainly used for real-time industrial control. It complies with 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3x standards and supports 10/100 copper automatic protocol and full/half-duplex automatic protocol. The IS420ESWBH3A switch is equipped with a 100 Mbps FX uplink port and has a built-in HP-MDIX auto-detection program that can promptly monitor its own operating status. The front of the module is equipped with LED indicators for link status, activity status, duplex status, port speed, and power status.

 

The IS420ESWBH3A Ethernet/IONet switch typically uses a combination of multiple electrical ports and optical ports, and can be configured as a redundant network structure with simplex, duplex, or even TMR (Triple Modular Redundancy) controllers. The redundancy level of the IONet (single network, dual network, or triple network) is consistent with the redundancy configuration of the controller (simplex, duplex, or TMR triple modular redundancy). In a redundant configuration, when a link fails, module control can automatically switch over in a very short time (<200ms), ensuring the normal and stable operation of the unit.

The GE Ethernet/IONet switch offers two hardware versions: ESWA and ESWB. Each hardware type provides five variants (H1A through H5A) with differing fiber port configuration options, including no fiber ports, multimode fiber ports, or single-mode (long-distance) fiber ports.
