The A6370 is an overspeed protection monitor component of the AMS 6300 SIS overspeed protection system. It monitors the rotational speed of rotating machinery in real time and is widely deployed in the overspeed protection systems of critical rotating assets, such as steam turbines and compressors. A complete AMS 6300 SIS system consists of three A6370 protection monitors and one A6371 backplane.

The A6370D monitor precisely measures the rotational speed of rotating equipment; should the speed exceed a preset safety threshold, the system rapidly triggers an emergency shutdown within milliseconds to prevent equipment damage. The monitor supports a variety of sensors, including eddy current sensors, Hall effect sensors, and variable reluctance (VR) sensors. Furthermore, the monitor supports redundant configurations: in a standard overspeed protection system, three independent A6370D monitors and a single A6371 backplane collectively form a redundant architecture. Under this arrangement, a system shutdown is triggered only when two of the three monitors independently detect an overspeed condition, thereby preventing nuisance trips caused by the failure of a single component. The A6370D monitor features built-in self-diagnostic capabilities that continuously monitor the health status of the sensors, the signal path, and the monitor itself. In addition to relay outputs dedicated to emergency shutdowns, the monitor provides various communication interfaces—such as RS-485 (Modbus RTU) and an optional Profibus DP module—to facilitate the real-time monitoring and transmission of rotational speed data, equipment status, and other operational parameters.
