The 216GW62 is an input transformer unit in the ABB REG216 generator protection system. Its primary function is to couple and transmit signals within the circuit, ensuring maximum signal transmission and minimal distortion. It often also functions as a phase splitter to drive push-pull power amplifier circuits. The 216GW62 input transformer unit corresponds to the 216GW61 unit, the only difference being that the GW62 meets the DIN IP 30 protection rating. The 216GW62 input transformer unit contains 12 input current transformers (CTs) and voltage transformers (VTs), which can be directly connected to the primary system's current and voltage transformers. The current and voltage transformers convert the secondary currents and voltages from the primary system's current and voltage transformers into proportional voltage signals ranging from -40 V to +40 V. These signals are transmitted to the 216EA61 analog input unit via standard system cables. The positions of the instrument transformers W1...W12 correspond to I/Ps CH01...CH12, CH13...CH24, CH25...CH36 or CH37...CH48 on the 216EA61 unit (when the system contains multiple 216GW61 units).
The REG216 system is a generator protection system released by ABB, currently available in two versions: REG 216 and REG 216 Compact. This system can be used to protect generators and generator transformers across various power ranges, such as hydroelectric, pumped storage, gas, combined cycle, steam, and cogeneration power plant units. This protection system provides continuous and comprehensive monitoring and protection functions, and can immediately alarm and record faults. The normal operation of this continuous and comprehensive monitoring and protection functions relies on the combined action of a series of protection devices, including the 216GW62 input transformer unit. |
