The PR6426/010-140 is a 32mm eddy current sensor from Emerson EPRO. This sensor features a linear measurement range of approximately 18mm, a sensitivity of 0.8 V/mm, and an M36x1.5 mounting thread size. Compared to the PR6424 sensor, the PR6426 offers a wider measurement range and relatively lower sensitivity, making it better suited for measuring displacement or differential expansion over larger ranges—such as in large-scale hydraulic turbines and heavy-duty, low-speed bearings—as well as for monitoring differential expansion between a rotor and its casing, and measuring the absolute vibration of large rotating shafts.
How does one select the appropriate sensor for a specific field application? When the field environment demands high measurement precision and rapid system response, and the displacement of the monitored object falls within a 6mm range, the 16mm PR6424 sensor is the more suitable choice. Conversely, when the field environment requires measuring a larger displacement range, or when the mechanical structure of the monitored object accommodates the installation of a physically larger sensor, the 32mm PR6426 sensor is the more appropriate option. Furthermore, when configuring a measurement system, it is essential to ensure compatibility between the sensor and its corresponding preamplifiers—such as the CON021—as well as monitoring modules designed for axial displacement monitoring—such as the MMS6210—thereby guaranteeing the proper operation of the entire machinery condition monitoring system. |
