Function & Application

The IS200STTCH2A is a simplex thermocouple input terminal block for the GE Mark VI system. This terminal block isolates and compensates for cold junctions in field-acquired thermocouple signals before transmitting them to the main control system. It can be used for temperature monitoring and protection interlocking in gas turbines and steam turbines. The IS200STTCH2A features 24 input channels, all configurable as thermocouple or 24V dry contact inputs. The terminal block provides opto-isolation to ground for each channel, offering strong anti-interference capabilities. Upon receiving thermocouple signals from field devices, it quickly performs electrical isolation and cold junction compensation, ensuring input signal quality. The entire process is extremely fast and can be completed without external modules. The IS200STTCH2A includes a 37-pin JR1 connector and fiber optic interface for rapid communication with the EISB main control board. The terminal block is DIN rail mounted and supports hot-swapping, making installation and maintenance very simple.

 

Application Experience and Cases

  • Gas Turbine Exhaust Temperature Monitoring: On GE's heavy-duty gas turbines, the IS200STTCH2A can be used for real-time monitoring of exhaust temperature after the combustion chamber and load control, preventing accidents caused by overheating of the flame tube. In this application, the 24 channels of the terminal block can simultaneously connect to 24 K-type thermocouples, accurately capturing exhaust temperature at the millisecond level.
  • Bearing and Bearing Temperature Vibration Protection: On the support bearings and thrust bearings of steam turbines and generator sets, the terminal block can connect to J-type or T-type thermocouples, effectively preventing electromagnetic interference from high-current equipment and providing accurate temperature input data for emergency tripping systems.
