The following are the exciter power supply boards from General Electric. These four power-related circuit boards work together to power GE's excitation control system:
The EPDM module powers the control board, I/O board, and protection board. Mounted on the side of the EPBP, it receives 125V DC power from the station battery, and one or two 115V AC power supplies. All power inputs are filtered. Each AC power supply is rectified to 125V DC in an AC-to-DC converter (DACA). The resulting two or three DC voltages are coupled together via diodes to form DC power supplies, labeled P125V and N125V respectively. With center ground, these voltages are nominally +62.5V and -62.5V to ground, respectively. Any exciter power module can be switched off via the EPDM. Independent power outputs to the exciter boards are equipped with fuses. They feature on/off toggle switches and green LED indicators to show power availability. These outputs can power up to three EGPA boards, an EXTB board, and three EPSM modules, which in turn power three controllers. Outputs are distributed via wiring to the EPBP.
The EPBP backplane contains three electrically isolated power supplies (EPSMs) that power controllers M1, M2, and C. It also contains three EGDMs. The EPBP receives 125V DC from adjacent EPDMs and distributes logic-level power from the three EPSMs to the three controllers. Each power supply has an independent on/off switch on its EPDM. The EPSM modules connect to the backplane via DIN connectors. 70V DC and 24V DC power supplies are distributed to the terminal block via locking connectors on the top of the backplane.
The IS200EPSMG1AED power module converts the 125V DC power from the EPDM to the voltage required by the control system. Three independent power supplies power controllers M1, M2, and C, respectively. These power supplies are located in the power module beneath the control rack within the control cabinet. The EPSM provides +5V DC, ±15V DC, and +24V DC to the controllers. Power is also supplied to modules outside the control rack via: ±24V DC for the EDEX demagnetizing module, overvoltage protection module, EGDM, and EDCF; and an isolated +70V DC power supply for contact wetting of the EXTB and ECTB boards. |
