The IS200VTURH2B is a turbine control board in the GE Mark VI series, primarily used to control the main overspeed trip solenoid valve and achieve automatic synchronization. The control board also connects to four passive pulse frequency devices to monitor shaft voltage and current in real time. Speed signal cables connect to the VTUR control board using the J5 connector on the front of the board; other signals use the J3 connector on the VME rack. The accompanying TTUR terminal board provides simplex signals to the VTUR control board via the JR connector and branches the TMR signal to the JR, JS, and JT connectors. The J4 connector on the VME rack connects to the TRPG terminal block described in the main trip section. The IS200VTURH2B control board can drive six trip solenoid valves using two TRPG terminal blocks. Magnetic sensors, shaft sensors, voltage transformers, and circuit breaker relays are all connected to two I/O terminal blocks on the TTUR; the sensors require an external power supply.
The main overspeed trip calculation is performed in the controller, while the fast trip option used on the gas turbine operates in the IS200VTURH2B, using a metal oxide varistor (MOV) and a current-limiting resistor in each circuit. The controller calculates the normal overspeed trip signal and passes it to the VTUR, which in turn passes it to the TRPG terminal block. The TRPG contains a magnetic relay for connection to the Electrical Trip Device (ETD). The TRPG works in conjunction with the TREG board, forming the main and emergency sides for interface with the ETD. (This is typically used for turbines without a mechanical overspeed bolt and requiring a separate emergency overspeed system—EOS.) Each TRPG/TREG combination can drive three ETDs, with the positive terminal of each solenoid valve connected to the TREG and the negative terminal connected to the TRPG. |
