Function & Application

The GE Emerson PACSystems™ RX3i IC695CPE330 is a feature-rich controller CPU with 64MB of built-in program memory and two independent high-speed Ethernet interfaces, ideal for multi-layer communication and massive data synchronization. Located in the RX3i mainframe rack, the IC695CPE330 supports all RX3i I/O and smart option modules, configurable up to 32 I/O points, and its metal housing provides excellent noise immunity.

 

The GE IC695CPE330 features two Ethernet ports. LAN1, without switching functionality, connects to the top RJ-45 connector. LAN2, with internal switching functionality, connects to the two lower RJ-45 connectors. Each embedded Ethernet interface automatically detects the data rate (10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or 1 Gbps), communication mode (half-duplex or full-duplex), and cabling method (straight-through or crossover). Two Ethernet LANs are served by a dedicated microprocessor core. Furthermore, each Ethernet LAN has its own dedicated network interface controller, allowing Ethernet port maintenance to be independent of controller logic and I/O scanning. Both Ethernet ports can be used to communicate with the PME software via the Service Request Transport Protocol (SRTP).

Before installing and booting the IC695CPE330 on-site, the following equipment is required.

  1. RX3i universal backplane: IC695CHS007, IC695CHS012, or IC695CHS016
  2. PACSystems RX3i CPU, occupying two backplane slots
  3. RX3i rack-mount power supply module and compatible AC or DC power supply
  4. Computer running PAC Machine Edition (PME) configuration software, Ethernet cable, Phillips screwdriver, 1.4mm flathead screwdriver

 

Steps for booting, configuring, and replacing the IC695CPE330

  1. Power off the RX3i rack and install the IC695CPE330 in a CPU-compatible dual-slot slot (usually the CPU is in the leftmost slot pair, or in the rightmost slot pair of the power supply module).
  2. If necessary, use a dedicated Ethernet cable to install the compatible RX3i power supply package (IC695ACC402) within approximately 90 cm of the CPU. After the IC695ACC402 power pack is powered on, it takes some time to charge to its operating capacity. Once charging is complete, the IC695CPE330 will begin startup.
  3. Insert the two hooks at the top rear of the CPU module into the two adjacent grooves on the RX3i rack backplate, aligning them with the corresponding connectors on the backplate. Insert the module downwards until the rear connector on the CPU module is securely engaged with the corresponding connector on the backplate.
  4. Power on the rack.
