Function & Application
The Emerson GE PACSystems* RX3i IC695CRU320 redundant CPU can be used for real-time control of machines, processes, and material handling systems. This CPU communicates with programmers and HMI devices via a serial port using the SNP slave protocol. It communicates with I/O and intelligent option modules via a dual backplane bus, providing a high-speed PCI backplane for rapid handling of new advanced I/O, and a serial backplane for easy migration of existing 90-30 series I/O. The main advantages of the IC695CRU320 redundant CPU are as follows. Hot Standby (HSB) redundancy. Two redundant units constitute a redundant system. Each unit requires a redundant CPU (IC695CRU320) and a redundant memory switching module (IC695RMX128/228). It includes 64 MB of battery-powered user memory and 64 MB of non-volatile flash memory. It supports most 90-30 series modules and expansion racks. It supports up to 512 program blocks, each with a maximum size of 128KB. The CPU firmware can be field-upgraded; the CPU supports firmware upgrades for modules on its backplane. Two serial ports: one RS-485 serial port and one RS-232 serial port. Ethernet communication is achieved via a rack-mounted Ethernet interface module (IC695ETM001).
