Function & Application

The DS200SDCIG2A is a power supply and instrumentation board for the GE Mark V control system, primarily used to provide logic power and interface circuitry for DC2000 drives with input voltages up to 600 V AC. The SDCI board is equipped with protective fuses FU1 through FU3, as well as FU5 and FU6; each fuse is paired with a corresponding indicator light or LED (designated as LT1, CR51, CR55, LT5, and LT6, respectively). Should a fuse blow, its corresponding indicator light will illuminate. The DS200SDCIG2A power board contains the following circuitry:

  • Power supply circuits providing +5 V DC (4 A), +15 V DC (0.4 A), +24 V DC, and 115 V AC (0.4 A).
  • Motor excitation power supply circuitry (excluding the SCR module).
  • Armature SCR trigger drive circuitry.
  • Instrumentation circuitry designed to detect various AC line and DC motor signals, including: armature current and voltage; excitation current; and AC line current, voltage magnitude, and phase sequence.

 

The procedure for replacing the SDCI circuit board is as follows:

  1. Turn off the power to the drive unit, then wait several minutes to allow the capacitors within the power supply circuitry to fully discharge.
  2. Open the drive cabinet door to access the DS200SDCC (SDCC) board; the SDCI board is located behind the SDCC board.
  3. Pull the latches located on both sides of the cabinet, lift the SDCC board, and tilt it forward. To remove the SDCI board, all four cables must be disconnected; flat cables can be gently pulled out by placing your hands on either side of the cable connector, while cables equipped with pull tabs can be removed by pulling on the tabs.
  4. The SDCI board is secured by plastic clips; push the retaining clips backward to release and remove the circuit board. Ensure that all configurable components—such as jumpers and switches—on the replacement board are set to exactly match the settings of the original board.
