Function & Application
The Woodward 8200-226 is a servo position controller primarily used to accept CANOpen™, DeviceNet™, or 4–20 mA input position request signals from a system controller and precisely control the position of proportional or integral servo valves. The Woodward 8200-226 provides the accuracy, responsiveness, and redundancy required for steam and gas turbine hydraulic fuel valve control. Configuration can be performed with or without the device connected, and the configuration can be uploaded or downloaded to other SPCs as needed. The SPC's position feedback circuitry includes integrated excitation and signal conditioning circuitry for LVDT and RVDT position sensors. The Woodward 8200-226 controller module can be optionally configured to accept redundant position commands and redundant servo position feedback signals. The SPC accepts CANOpen or DeviceNet as the primary control signal, while using a 4–20 mA analog signal as a backup control signal. Control automatically switches to the normal input signal when either signal fails. The SPC can also accept two servo position feedback signals and switch to normal feedback when one fails. The module also includes protection and alarm indications for the following faults: Communication timeout, analog input out of range Feedback open circuit, feedback voltage out of range Position error, SPC internal fault Actuator open/short circuit, driver overcurrent, etc.
