The VPRO turbine protection board in the GE Mark VI system, by driving and controlling 12 relays on the IS200TREGH1B, votes to control three trip solenoid valves, providing emergency overspeed protection and emergency stop functions. VPRO entirely controls the IS200TREGH1B terminal board, and its only connection to the control module is the J2 power line and the trip solenoid valves.
The solenoid valve circuitry on the IS200TREGH1B terminal board includes a metal oxide varistor (MOV) for current suppression and a 10-ohm, 70-watt energy-saving resistor. The TREG terminal controls the trip solenoid valves, which can cut off power in an emergency and actuate the hydraulic system to close the steam or fuel valves. 28V DC powers the nine trip relay coils on the TREG from the X, Y, and Z pins of the VPRO protection board; each VPRO board in the X, Y, and Z areas is provided with an independent 28V DC power supply. The turbine control system provides a separate 125V DC fuse power supply for the solenoid valves. The solenoid valves are energized in operating mode and de-energized in trip mode.
Diagnostics for the IS200TREGH1B terminal board are included in the VPRO protection board. Diagnostics cover trip relay drivers and contact feedback, energy-saving relay drivers and contact feedback, K25A relay drivers and coils, servo clamping relay drivers and contact feedback, and solenoid valve voltage sources. |
