Function & Application
The IS200EACFG3A is a GE AC excitation feedback board designed for the EX2100 series generator excitation control systems. Its primary function is to acquire high-voltage AC signals from the exciter, convert these high-voltage inputs into feedback signals readable by the controller, and transmit them to the control board for excitation system analysis and control. The IS200EACFG3A features four onboard voltage transformers used to acquire the exciter's high-voltage AC signals; these transformers provide isolation and voltage step-down capabilities, converting the high-voltage inputs into digital signals that the controller can interpret. The feedback board is equipped with dedicated output channels for voltage signals, enabling the transmission of the converted, low-voltage feedback signals to the EX2100 system's main control board to facilitate the control system's excitation regulation. Throughout the entire signal conversion and transmission process, the IS200EACFG3A feedback board performs signal filtering, voltage division, and current limiting, thereby ensuring the stability and accuracy of signal transmission. Furthermore, when generator load conditions change or voltage fluctuations occur, the feedback board dynamically updates its feedback signals in real-time to reflect the actual field conditions. This enables the excitation controller to promptly adjust trigger pulses and regulate excitation currents in response to the changing feedback signals, thereby achieving stable regulation of the generator's voltage and reactive power. The IS200EACFG3A feedback board also supports fault monitoring for conditions such as overvoltage, undervoltage, and phase anomalies. Application Case and Customer Testimonial — Thermal Power Plant Excitation System Upgrade Project Unit 2 at this thermal power plant previously utilized an older, analog-based excitation control system. The unit frequently experienced forced load reductions due to unstable excitation regulation, which severely impacted the power plant's overall generation efficiency. Subsequently, the power plant decided to implement the IS200EACFG3A AC excitation feedback board to replace the voltage acquisition and feedback unit within their original system. Following the upgrade, the customer provided the following feedback: "The new excitation system allows for precise voltage measurement and control with an extremely low margin of error.
