The Triconex 3721 Analog Input module contains three independent input channels. Each input channel receives variable voltage signals from various points, converts them into digital values, and transmits these values to the three main processor modules as needed. In TMR mode, an intermediate-value selection algorithm is used to select a value to ensure that correct data is obtained on every scan. The individual input point detection method prevents a failure in one channel from affecting others.
The Triconex 3721 Analog Input module performs complete and continuous diagnostics on each channel. Any diagnostic failure on any channel activates the module's fault indicator, which in turn activates the chassis alarm signal. The module's fault indicator reports only channel failures, not module failures—the module can operate normally even with a maximum of two channel failures. The Triconex 3721 Analog Input module supports hot standby, allowing for in-line replacement of faulty modules. The analog input module requires a separate external wiring panel (ETP) and connects to the Tricon controller backplane via a cable interface. The 3721 input module features a mechanical positioning key to indicate correct installation within the Tricon chassis. |
