Product Description Technical Download

The T8310 is a Trusted TMR (Triple Modular Redundant) expansion processor module from ICS Triplex. Its primary function is to serve as a slave interface between the expansion bus and the expansion chassis backplane. Installed in the leftmost two processor slots (PL1/PL2) of the expansion chassis, it extends the Internal Module Bus (IMB) beyond the confines of a single processor chassis. The T8310 utilizes a TMR fault-tolerant design comprising three main Fault Containment Regions (FCRs A, B, and C) and a monitoring/display region (FCR D); together, these four regions form the module's voting structure.

Function

1. Forwards messages received from the expansion bus to the expansion chassis IMB and returns response messages.
2. Transmits control signals such as power failure warnings and system watchdog signals.
3. Monitors the status of the 24V power supply lines.
4. Reports bus link quality, error counts, HIFT clock status, watchdog status, and the status of redundant primary/standby modules back to the control module.

Operating Modes and Installation/Replacement Notes

T8310 Operating Modes:
1. Standby – Can receive messages but does not transmit or return responses.
2. Active – Handles bidirectional message transfer between the expansion bus and the Internal Module Bus; also includes all functions of the Standby mode.
3. In a TMR configuration, typically only two T8310 modules are active; the roles of primary and standby are determined through negotiation between these two active modules.
Precautions:
1. Do not remove the module while the "ACTIVE" indicator is lit; doing so may cause modules within the chassis to revert to a default state, potentially triggering a shutdown sequence.
2. When replacing the module, manually initiate a primary/standby switchover using the ejector tabs; remove the module only after the original module has transitioned to Standby and the new module has transitioned to Active.
3. The module contains electrostatic-sensitive components; observe anti-static precautions during handling.

Common Faults and Solutions

1. All front panel indicators are off
—— Loss of power or failure of the FCR D front panel interface. Check the chassis power supply; use diagnostic tools to verify if communication with other modules is possible.
2. A single FCR indicator flashes red
—— Failure of a single primary FCR. Replace the module as soon as possible. 3. Multiple FCR indicators flashing red
——Multiple faults exceeding fault-tolerance capabilities. If the module is inactive, remove it immediately; if it is active, the system will attempt to switch to the standby module, and the faulty module should be replaced as soon as possible.
4. Both primary and standby LEDs are off
——LED failure. Possible causes include expansion interface module failure/absence, expansion bus failure, TMR processor failure, or FCR D failure. Check the expansion interface module status, bus cable installation and integrity, module slot placement, and response status via diagnostic tools.
5. The communication error counter is continuously incrementing
——Damaged cables or excessive electromagnetic interference (EMI). Inspect and replace damaged cables and verify that cable lengths meet specifications; if EMI is the cause, reduce interference levels.
6. Abnormal 24V power supply level
——Poor or missing power supply, or monitoring failure. Verify the power supply level using a multimeter or data from other modules and rectify the issue.
7. All other modules in the chassis indicate standby mode
——TMR processor not running, expansion processor failure, expansion bus failure, or expansion processor not installed. Verify the TMR processor's operating status and start the application; check the expansion processor status via the T8300 chassis board or diagnostic tools.
