We have seen third-party blanks that work fine. Metal plates cut to size. 3D printed plastic pieces. They cover the hole, which is the main job. But sometimes the holes do not align or the thickness is off. For a part this simple, the cost difference is small anyway. Most people just get the original and avoid any fit questions.

Final Thought

The 128276-01 does nothing flashy. It does not monitor vibration or protect machines. It just sits there covering an empty slot.

But in a well-maintained rack, those blanks are in every unused opening. They keep things clean, protect the backplane, and prevent accidents. For the low cost and simple installation, there is not much reason to skip them.

If you have empty half-height slots, adding the 128276-01 is a small step that pays off over time. And if you ever need to use that slot later, removing the blank takes less than a minute.
