The RLM01 3BDZ000398R1 is a PROFIBUS redundancy link module manufactured by ABB. When field devices are equipped with only a single PROFIBUS DP interface, the RLM01 redundancy link module enables the integration of multiple such devices into a redundant PROFIBUS network. In this capacity, the RLM01 acts as an active switch, converting two redundant lines into a single PROFIBUS DP line. Simultaneously, the RLM01 is capable of reshaping and amplifying the signal waveforms and amplitudes of received data, while continuously monitoring the operational and fault status of all three lines in real time.
The RLM01 3BDZ000398R1 link module features three PROFIBUS ports and requires no slave address assignment. It supports transmission rates ranging from 9.6 Kbps to 12 Mbps and can connect up to 31 PROFIBUS slaves; when used in conjunction with fiber-optic repeaters, the number of connectable devices can be further expanded. The LED indicators and signal contacts located on the RLM01's front panel provide clear feedback regarding the module's operational and fault status; additionally, the module is equipped with an 8-pole terminal block to facilitate diagnostic readout.
The module can be installed directly adjacent to a master device, positioned upstream of a bus segment containing multiple slaves, or placed immediately preceding a single slave device. Multiple PROFIBUS workstations equipped with redundancy couplers can be connected directly to the PROFIBUS bus segment that has been rendered redundant via the RLM01. Conversely, PROFIBUS workstations equipped with only a single interface can be connected individually to either Line A or Line B.
