The IOCNMk2 is an input/output interface module in the VM600Mk2 monitoring system, primarily used as the signal and communication interface for the CPUMMk2 processor. The IOCNMk2 module also protects all inputs from electromagnetic interference and signal surges, complying with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards. The IOCNMk2 module features two onboard output relays for remotely indicating system status and alarm information; each relay can be mapped to any Modbus bit variable. LED indicators on the front panel of the IOCNMk2 module, located on the rear of the VM600Mk2 rack, indicate the status of system Ethernet and fieldbus communication. The IOCNMk2 is equipped with two fieldbus ports, FIELDBUS1 and FIELDBUS2. One port is typically used for communication with VibroSight® software, and the other port is used for communication with monitoring modules such as the XMx16 + XIO16T. In this scenario, the CPUMMk2 acts as a fieldbus server slave device, acquiring data from modules in the VM600Mk2 rack and sharing it with field DCS or PLC master devices. Each fieldbus port, FIELDBUS1 and FIELDBUS2, includes two connectors: one for serial-based fieldbus standards and the other for Ethernet-based fieldbus standards. Both fieldbus ports can be active simultaneously, but only one connector can be used per interface/port (i.e., FIELDBUS1 uses connector J1 or J2, and FIELDBUS2 uses connector J4 or J5).

 

IOCNMk2 Connector and Indicator Lights

  • J1 (FIELDBUS1): 9-pin D-sub connector (DCE), female, with functional insulation and a rated insulation voltage of 700 VRMS. Used for communication between the CPUMMk2 + IOCNMk2 module (fieldbus server) and the fieldbus client (master).
  • J2 (FIELDBUS1): 8P8C (RJ45) modular socket, female, IEEE 802.3 Ethernet compatible, with functional insulation and a rated insulation voltage of 1500 VRMS. Independent link for indicating the status of the fieldbus Ethernet link (FIELDBUS1).
  • J3 (RL1 and RL2): 6-pin connector (male), compatible with 6-pin MC/STF plug-in connector (female), with screw terminal connections. Used for the outputs of relays RL1 and RL2.
  • J4 (FIELDBUS2): 9-pin D-sub connector (DCE), female, with functional insulation and a rated insulation voltage of 700 VRMS. Used for communication between the CPUMMk2 + IOCNMk2 module (fieldbus server) and the fieldbus client (master).
  • J5 (FIELDBUS2): 8P8C (RJ45) modular female connector, IEEE 802.3 Ethernet compliant, with functional insulation and a rated insulation voltage of 1500 VRMS. Independent link for indicating the status of the fieldbus Ethernet link (FIELDBUS2).
  • J6 (ETHERNET1): 8P8C (RJ45) modular female connector, IEEE 802.3 Ethernet compliant, with functional insulation and a rated insulation voltage of 1500 VRMS. Combined link for communication between the CPUMMk2 + IOCNMk2 module and a computer or XMx16 + XIO16T module, indicating the status of the system Ethernet link (ETHERNET1).
  • J7 (ETHERNET2): 8P8C (RJ45) modular female jack, IEEE 802.3 Ethernet compliant, with functional insulation and a rated insulation voltage of 1500 VRMS. Combined link, used to enable communication between the CPUMMk2 + IOCNMk2 module and a computer or XMx16 + XIO16T module, indicating the status of the system Ethernet link (ETHERNET2).

 

The VM600Mk2 CPUMMk2 + IOCNMk2 rack controller and communication interface module is designed specifically for the second-generation VM600Mk2 rack-mount mechanical protection system. The CPUMMk2 module is the central processing unit (CPU) module, and the IOCNMk2 module is the input/output interface module. They are used in pairs as the data communication gateway between the system controller and the VM600Mk2 system. In critical applications, each VM600Mk2 system rack (ABE04x) can be equipped with two CPUMMk2 + IOCNMk2 modules to achieve rack-level communication redundancy. By default, the leftmost CPUMMk2 module in the rack is considered the master module, and the other module is the slave module. If the master CPUMMk2 module stops working due to removal or failure, the slave CPUMMk2 module will automatically take over, with a switchover time of up to 200 milliseconds.
