Function & Application

The IOC10Mk2 is a temperature signal input/output module within the VM600Mk2 monitoring system, primarily designed to acquire and transmit temperature signals for the AMC10Mk2 temperature monitoring and processing module. The IOC10Mk2 module features two built-in user-configurable relays (RL1 and RL2) used to provide remote indication of system alarm and/or status information. Configurable input sources include sensor status checks, measurement alarms (Danger, Alert, Negative Alert, Negative Danger), and/or logic functions from the AMC10Mk2 module. The IOC10Mk2 module outputs 4 to 20 mA signals to provide quasi-static measurement values ​​to other system modules; each measurement channel corresponds to a separately configurable output, supporting two operating modes: measurement values ​​with quality checks and measurement values ​​without quality checks. Typically, relays within the VM600Mk2 system can be configured for "Normally Energized" (NE) or "Normally De-energized" (NDE) modes, with an optional latching function, thereby supporting full system control signal capabilities. However, within the AMC10Mk2 + IOC10Mk2 card pair, the IOC10Mk2 relays are under the direct control of the AMC10Mk2 module and do not support the safety loop functions of the VM600Mk2 system.

 

Supported Sensors
1. Compatible Thermocouple (TC) Types and Temperature Ranges:

  • Type E (NiCr-CuNi): −270 to 1000°C (−454 to 1832°F).
  • Type J (Fe-CuNi): −210 to 760°C (−346 to 1400°F), compliant with API 670 standards.
  • Type K (NiCr-NiAl): −270 to 1372°C (−454 to 2501°F).
  • Type T (Cu-CuNi): −270 to 400°C (−454 to +752°F).

2. Compatible with 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire configurations for any RTD type. Compatible Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) Types and Temperature Ranges:

  • Pt100: 100 Ω resistance at 0°C (32°F); 3-wire and 4-wire platinum resistors (α = 0.00385); −200 to 850°C (−328 to 1562°F); compliant with API 670 standards.
  • Pt100: 100 Ω resistance at 0°C (32°F); 3-wire and 4-wire platinum resistors (α = 0.00392); −200 to 700°C (−392 to 1292°F).
  • Ni (Nickel Resistor): 120 Ω; 3-wire and 4-wire nickel resistors; −80 to 260°C (−112 to 500°F).
  • Cu10: 10 Ω resistance at 25°C (77°F); supports 3-wire and 4-wire copper resistance thermometers (RTDs); −100 to 260°C (−148 to 500°F).

3. Compatible Analog/Process Inputs (DC Current): Full range 0 to 25 mA; measurement resistance 50 Ω; supports positive polarity inputs only; provides overcurrent protection.
4. Compatible CJC Modes: Internal/External Compensation (the AMC10Mk2 module offers an option to include a built-in CJC temperature sensor). Internal compensation utilizes a dedicated Pt1000 temperature sensor; external compensation allows for the use of any type of temperature sensor. When using external CJC, one of the module's ten measurement channels must be assigned to the external CJC temperature sensor.

 

IOC10Mk2 Connectors and Status Indicators

  • J1: Input interface for measurement channels (CH1 to CH4) (analog signals).
  • J2: Input interface for measurement channels (CH5 to CH8) (analog signals).
  • J3: Input interface for measurement channels (CH9 to CH10) (analog signals); input interface for DSI control signals (AB and AR) and ground reference (digital signals); analog output terminals (analog signals).
  • J4: Output terminals (contacts) for user-configurable relays (RL1 and RL2).
  • LAN: 8P8C (RJ45) modular jack (female). System Ethernet interface, used for communication between the AMC10Mk2 + IOC10Mk2 modules and a computer running VibroSight® software; indicates the status of system LAN (Ethernet) communication.

 

The AMC10Mk2 + IOC10Mk2 constitutes a temperature and analog monitoring module pair within the second-generation VM600Mk2 rack-based machinery monitoring system; specifically, the AMC10Mk2 serves as the processing module, while the IOC10Mk2 functions as the input/output module. These two modules must be used in tandem and are designed for installation in either the standard VM600Mk2 system rack (ABE04x) or the slimline rack (ABE056), providing 10 measurement channels for machinery protection and condition monitoring within the VM600Mk2 system. Within the VM600Mk2 system, the AMC10Mk2 + IOC10Mk2 temperature and analog monitoring modules are primarily deployed in applications involving a large number of slowly varying analog signals—such as temperature and other process variables.
