The CPUR2 is a rack control processor card for the VM600 machinery and condition monitoring system. Its primary functions include managing the configurations of VM600 monitoring card pairs—such as the MPC4/IOC4T and XMx16/XIO16T—processing fieldbus data, and providing safety protection for the VM600 system rack. The CPUR2 occupies a single slot within the VM600 rack; it is installed in Slot 0 at the front of the rack and connects directly to the rack's backplane via two connectors.
Acting as the rack controller for the VM600 monitoring system, the CPUR2 card is responsible for managing condition monitoring card pairs—specifically the MPC4/IOC4T and XMx16/XIO16T—and supports the hot-swapping and automatic configuration of these cards. The CPUR2/IOCR2 card pair communicates with the MPC4 cards via the VME bus, and with the XMx16/XIO16T card pairs via the system Ethernet link, thereby acquiring measurement data and subsequently sharing this information with third-party systems, such as DCS or PLC platforms. Data can consist of either raw measurement data originating from MPC4 and XMx16 cards, or operational status data derived from the CPUR2 card itself. In applications with limited data bandwidth, the CPUR2 can serve as a data communication gateway for XMx16 cards, handling hundreds of bytes of static data via Modbus TCP and/or PROFIBUS DP. The ALARM RESET button located on the CPUR2 front panel is used to clear latched alarms across all protection cards within the rack, thereby enabling a rack-wide alarm reset operation. The CPUR2 front panel features a security lock with a removable key, used to enable the safety protection functions of the VM600 MPS rack. Additionally, LED indicators on the front panel display the CPUR2 card's operating mode and status, as well as the status of system Ethernet and fieldbus communications.

The CPUR2 and IOCR2 rack controller and communication interface card pair serves as the central processing unit for the VM600 machinery and condition monitoring system. Primarily functioning as the system rack controller and data communication gateway, this card pair features fieldbus data processing capabilities and supports both Modbus TCP and PROFIBUS DP protocols. The CPUR2 card must be used in conjunction with the IOCR2 card and is compatible exclusively with VM600 ABE04x system racks. The CPUR2/IOCR2 rack controller and communication interface card pair is an optional component that provides the VM600 system with a range of extended functionalities, including: configuration management; hot-swap capabilities with automatic reconfiguration; front-panel display; card-pair redundancy; fieldbus data processing; a front-panel Alarm Reset (AR) button; MPS rack safety protection; system and measurement event logging; fieldbus communication support (for Modbus, PROFIBUS, and/or PROFINET); and/or communication redundancy features. |
