1. Core Control and Data Processing: The PM864AK01’s CPU board integrates an MPC862 96 MHz microprocessor, which is responsible for executing control logic written using 800xA Control Builder; processing input signals from S800 I/O modules; managing system task scheduling and real-time data processing; outputting control commands; and storing application and system data.
2. S800 I/O Management: The PM864AK01 connects directly to the S800 I/O system and exchanges data with field I/O modules via the module bus. It can connect up to 12 S800 I/O units to enable the acquisition and control of analog inputs (AI), analog outputs (AO), digital inputs (DI), and digital outputs (DO).
3. System Communication Management and Expansion: The PM864AK01 features built-in CN1/CN2 10BaseT Ethernet ports (Ethernet communication), a COM3 RS-232C serial port (modem control signals), and a COM4 RS-232C isolated serial port (configuration and maintenance), enabling it to serve as the communication hub within the control system. The PM864AK01 supports flexible expansion of fieldbuses such as PROFIBUS DP and, through the BC810 module, can also implement a segmented CEX-Bus.
4. CPU Redundancy Support: The scope of redundancy includes CPU modules; the CEX-Bus; communication interfaces; and the S800 I/O system. In the event of a primary CPU failure, the standby CPU can automatically take over control functions, minimizing system downtime.
5. Program and Data Storage: The PM864AK01 features built-in RAM with battery backup to preserve critical data in the event of a power failure.
