The PM803F is a mid-to-high-end central unit in ABB's AC 800F Freelance® DCS series. Its primary functions include cyclically switching fieldbus modules, scanning and processing signals from fieldbus sensors, and sending commands to fieldbus actuators via these modules. Installing two PM803F control units enables controller redundancy, and all inputs and outputs are designed to support redundant operation. In a redundant configuration, data communication between the PM803F, process station, and operator station occurs via the Ethernet system bus on the first Ethernet module. A dedicated redundant communication link established through the second Ethernet module ensures that the two control units remain synchronized at all times. The PM803F control unit is equipped with independently powered RAM. When a fieldbus module is installed or replaced, the required configuration information is automatically updated, facilitating real-time storage of configuration and process data. Even during power outages, the RAM continues to operate, protecting data security.
