Main Functions
The KJ3225X1-BA1 is an 8-channel, 0–2000 Ω RTD/Resistance Input Card for the Emerson DeltaV Series 2. It is primarily used to connect RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detectors) to measure resistance and temperature changes in field equipment and transmit the data to the DeltaV control system for real-time monitoring and alarms. Taking the Pt100 as an example, its operating principle can be explained as follows: changes in temperature cause changes in the RTD’s resistance value; the input card measures this resistance value and converts the signal to accurately obtain the field temperature data. Unlike temperature transmitters that use a 4–20 mA output, the KJ3225X1-BA1 can directly receive signals from resistive sensors without the need for an additional temperature transmitter.

Role of the KJ3225X1-BA1 in DeltaV
In the DeltaV system, the KJ3225X1-BA1 is primarily responsible for acquiring field temperature/resistance signals and is typically used in conjunction with the KJ4001X1-CH1 terminal. The signal flow from the field is as follows:
Field RTD / Resistance Sensor → KJ4001X1-CH1 → KJ3225X1-BA1 → DeltaV I/O → Controller → Control System

FAQ
1. In What Scenarios Can the KJ3225X1-BA1 Be Used?
—It can be widely applied in industrial processes such as oil and gas, chemical, power, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing for the acquisition of temperature and resistance signals. Examples include: PT100/RTD temperature detection, process equipment temperature monitoring, motor/pump/compressor bearing temperatures, temperatures in furnaces, reactors, and heat exchangers, as well as connections to various resistive measurement elements.
2. What types of malfunctions might occur with the KJ3225X1-BA1?
—In many cases, actual malfunctions with the KJ3225X1-BA1 are not caused by damage to the I/O card itself, but rather by issues with the RTD, wiring, terminal block, or configuration. If you notice an abnormal temperature reading on a particular channel, or if the display shows “Open,” “Bad,” or “Out of Range,” first check whether the RTD wiring is correct, whether any terminals are loose, and whether there are any open circuits or short circuits. If multiple channels exhibit abnormalities simultaneously and the measured temperature values drift, perform troubleshooting in the following order: Terminal Block → Local Bus / I/O Carrier → KJ3225 → System Configuration.
