The IS200BPVCG1BR1 is a backplane component for the GE Speedtronic Mark VI gas turbine control system. Its primary function is to interconnect various control boards, I/O modules, and other components housed within the system rack; it is responsible for receiving signals from numerous field devices, thereby facilitating efficient communication between the control rack and the field equipment.

 

The IS200BPVCG1B board features 21 on-board backplane connectors, enabling it to interface with a wide array of Mark VI system cards—including the Central Processing Unit (CPU) module, I/O modules, and communication modules—thereby establishing the necessary communication channels for the transmission of various signal types. The front face of the backplane is equipped with 39 D-Sub connectors, which serve as connection points for field devices such as sensors, actuators, and control cabinets. This configuration allows for the direct reception and transmission of measurement signals from field-based gas turbine equipment—including parameters such as temperature, pressure, rotational speed, and valve control signals—thereby facilitating seamless communication between field devices and the Mark VI control boards and I/O cards. Furthermore, these D-Sub connectors are capable of transmitting commands issued by the controller to field actuators, as well as conveying specific communication and power supply signals. The IS200BPVCG1B backplane is designed to withstand high temperatures and offers robust resistance to strong electromagnetic interference, effectively ensuring the stability and reliability of signal transmission.

 

Application Case and Experience
Our facility utilizes a wide array of field instrumentation for measuring parameters such as temperature, pressure, rotational speed, and vibration. The complexity of the associated cabling infrastructure previously rendered our routine maintenance and overhaul procedures extremely arduous. However, following the implementation of the General Electric IS200BPVCG1B backplane—along with its accompanying interface cards—we have achieved significant simplification of our cabling layout. A single backplane unit is now capable of transmitting 39 distinct field signals with exceptional efficiency and accuracy, resulting in substantial time savings for our operations.
