The BC810K01 3BSE031154R1 is an ABB CEX-Bus interconnection unit designed for the AC 800M controller system. Its primary function is to divide the CEX-Bus into two physically independent communication segments, thereby enhancing the control system’s redundancy and reliability. The BC810K01 consists of three components: the BC810 interconnection unit, the TP857 backplane, and the TB850CEX bus terminator.
Main Functions
1. CEX-Bus Segmentation: The BC810K01 module divides the CEX-Bus of the processor unit into two independent physical communication segments. If a communication interface unit in one CEX-Bus segment fails, this prevents disruption to the CPU or the other CEX-Bus segment.
2. The BC810K01 supports redundant CEX-Bus communication interface configurations
3. In a fully redundant system consisting of two interconnected BC810 units and a primary/standby CPU, the BC810 supports replacing the CPU backplane without interrupting CEX communication.
4. The BC810 supports multiple power supply methods: Power via the CEX-Bus—supplied by the processor unit backplane. Power via the BC810 external power interface connected to an SD8xx or SS8xx power module. The external power interface can also provide redundant power to the CEX-Bus.

Installation Notes
1. The BC810 must be installed directly on the CEX-Bus of the processor unit backplane; the typical installation sequence is: CPU backplane TP830 → BC810 → SM81x/communication interface module → TB850 terminal
2. When interconnecting multiple BC810 units, use a TK851 interconnect cable between two BC810 units. Do not use a TK850 CEX-Bus extension cable to connect two CEX-Bus segments separated by a BC810.
3. Each BC810 supports a maximum of 6 connected CEX-Bus units.
4. When using redundant CEX-Bus communication interfaces, the two redundant communication interfaces must be installed on different BC810 CEX-Bus segments.
5. In a BC810 redundant configuration, two independent power supplies must provide cross-redundant power to the BC810 segments to prevent a single power supply failure from affecting the entire CEX-Bus system.

FAQ
1. Can the BC810 be powered solely by the CEX-Bus?
—No. For the AC 800M High Integrity controller, the BC810 must be connected to an external power supply input, and the power supply must be configured strictly in accordance with specifications.
2. In what scenarios can the BC810K01 be used?
—The BC810K01 is primarily used in the primary/standby CPU architecture of AC 800M redundant control systems; redundant communication interface configurations, and control networks requiring high availability. It is fully suited for applications with high requirements for continuous operation and fault isolation, such as oil and gas; chemical production; power systems; and continuous process control.
