The 990-05-50-02-00 is a Bently Nevada 990 Vibration Transmitter. The Model 990 vibration transmitter is primarily targeted at original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of centrifugal air compressors or small pumps, motors, or fans. These manufacturers typically require a simple 4 to 20 mA proportional vibration signal as input to their machinery control systems. This transmitter is a two-wire, loop-powered device that accepts input from a 3300 NSv proximity probe and its accompanying extension cable (available in 5-meter and 7-meter system lengths). The transmitter converts the signal to appropriate peak-to-peak amplitude engineering units and provides this value as an industry-standard 4 to 20 mA proportional signal as input to control systems for protective alarms and logic control of machinery. The Model 990 transmitter features: Integrated proximity sensor, eliminating the need for external units; Non-isolated PROX OUT and COM terminals, along with a coaxial connector, providing dynamic vibration and gap voltage signal outputs for diagnostics. The transmitter label features non-interactive zero and range potentiometers supporting loop adjustment. The test input pin allows for the use of a function generator as input, enabling rapid verification of abnormal loop signal output. The signal suppression circuitry prevents high output or false alarms caused by proximity probe malfunction or loose connections. Optional DIN rail clips or partition mounting screws simplify installation. Potted construction suitable for high humidity (up to 100% condensation) environments. Compatible with 3300 NSv proximity probes, allowing sensor installation in confined spaces, such as centrifugal air compressors. Vibration transmitters have several limitations compared to continuous vibration monitoring systems. While they can perform peak vibration alarms and anomaly detection, the 4-20 mA signal cannot be used to determine vibration phase, and monitoring functions such as gap alarms, phase alarms, timed normal channel disabling, hazard bypass, and trip multiplication are unavailable. Furthermore, PLCs connected to vibration transmitters only provide peak-to-peak trend data and are not suitable for plant-wide diagnostic systems such as System 1 or Rule Paks. Additionally, the PROX OUT coaxial connector on the 990 vibration transmitter provides a non-isolated dynamic sensor signal for mechanical diagnostics. You can connect this signal directly to a battery-powered or isolated test device to diagnose mechanical faults. However, because the PROX OUT signal is not isolated from the 4 to 20 mA loop signal, interface isolation is strongly recommended.
