The 83SR04E-E GJR2390200R1210 is an ABB Procontrol Control Module. This module is primarily used for stored-program binary and analog control tasks at the drive, drive group, and unit control levels. This module is designed for use with multifunctional processing stations and can operate in three different modes:

  1. Binary control mode (with analog basic functions and variable cycle time)
  2. Analog control mode (with analog basic functions and variable cycle time)
  3. Signal conditioning mode with fixed cycle time and interference bit output

 

The module essentially consists of the following:

  • Process interface: In the process interface, the process signals are adapted to the internal signal level.
  • Station-bus interface: In the station-bus interface, the module signals are adapted to the bus. This essentially involves a parallel/serial conversion.
  • Processing section: In order to process the signals coming from the process and the bus, the module is provided with a microprocessor that works in conjunction with the following memory areas via a module-internal bus:

 

Key Features:

  • When the module is inserted into a PROCONTROL station, the module address is automatically set.
  • The module checks the parity bit of messages received via the station bus for correct transmission. Messages sent by the module to the bus include a parity bit to ensure correct transmission.
  • The user program is stored in non-volatile memory (EEPROM). The user program can be loaded and modified from the PDDS via the bus. Once a valid user list has been loaded, the module is ready for operation.
  • To communicate with process and switchgear, the module requires a USA/USB operating voltage of +24 V.
