SIEMENS “ONE Tech Company” Plan – Acquisition of Altair Engineering Inc. and Dotmatics in 2025

Siemens completed the acquisitions of Altair Engineering Inc. and Dotmatics in March and July 2025, respectively, further expanding its business footprint.

On March 26, 2025, Siemens announced the completion of its acquisition of Altair Engineering Inc., valued at approximately $10 billion. This further solidifies its leading position in simulation and industrial artificial intelligence, and expands its industrial software portfolio. The acquisition integrates Altair technology into Siemens' Xcelerator open digital business platform, creating the world's most complete portfolio of AI-driven industrial software. The addition of the Altair team and technology will further enhance Siemens' most comprehensive digital twin solutions and make simulation technology easier to use, helping businesses of all sizes bring complex products to market faster.

“We warmly welcome Altair’s customers, partners, and colleagues to the Siemens family. Together, we will help customers innovate at the scale and speed required in today’s complex and ever-changing world,” said Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG. “Through the ONE Tech Company initiative, we will further solidify our leading position in industrial software. This will enable all industries to benefit from data- and AI-driven transformation.” The acquisition of Altair is part of Siemens’ “ONE Tech Company” initiative and will significantly increase Siemens’ revenue share in the digitalization field. Through such acquisitions and R&D investments in areas such as software, AI products, connected hardware, and sustainability, Siemens clearly prioritizes capital allocation in strategic growth areas.

On July 1, 2025, Siemens completed its acquisition of Dotmatics, a leading provider of life science R&D software headquartered in Boston and a portfolio company of global software investment firm Insight Partners, with an enterprise value of $5.1 billion. Following the transaction, Dotmatics will be integrated into Siemens' Digital Industries Software business unit, marking a significant expansion of Siemens' industry-leading Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) portfolio into the rapidly growing and complementary life sciences market. Siemens expands its AI-driven Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, adding an end-to-end digital thread that connects research data with production processes in the life sciences. This acquisition is another milestone in Siemens' "Integrated Technology Company" initiative, which aims to achieve stronger customer focus, faster innovation, and higher profitability. The acquisition of Dotmatics solidifies Siemens' position as a leading global provider of AI-driven Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software. Dotmatics' scientific intelligence platform, Luma, and its industry-leading scientific applications support AI-driven, multimodal drug development, seamless collaboration, and contextualized data, building an interconnected digital thread across the entire value chain from R&D to production.

“Through our collaboration with Dotmatics, we are ushering in a new era of innovation in the life sciences. From R&D to manufacturing, we are building a unique end-to-end digital pipeline: we are combining Dotmatics’ scientific intelligence with our industrial AI and digital twin technologies,” said Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG. “This will enable us to help our customers accelerate breakthroughs, shorten development cycles, and bring life-saving medicines to market faster and more economically.”
