Marine Automation
Marine automation involves multiple systems such as ship control, power management, navigation, and communication. The industry characteristics and applicable product features are as follows:
Ships operate at sea for extended periods, so equipment must have corrosion resistance (e.g., IP66 protection) and rust prevention capabilities; Due to wave impact, equipment must pass vibration resistance certification (e.g., IEC 60945); for polar navigation, equipment must withstand extreme temperature differences from -30°C to +70°C. The lifespan of a vessel typically ranges from 20 to 30 years, so automation equipment must have a low failure rate, be easy to maintain, and critical systems such as main engine control must have a redundant design. Additionally, strict international certification standards and explosion-proof standards must be adhered to.
Typical ship automation products include:
1. Kongsberg, Siemens marine redundant control PLC; Kongsberg, Honeywell fire alarm system, multi-zone smoke detection.
2. Wärtsilä, MAN diesel engine remote control system, main engine automatic start/stop, load balancing
3. ABB, Siemens safety monitoring pod propulsion system, Siemens hybrid power control system
