| The AI843 3BSE028925R1 thermocouple/mV input module provides 8 differential input channels for thermocouple/mV measurements. The AI843 can be configured for single-channel or redundant operation, with each channel having a measurement range of -30 mV to +75 mV linear range, or for B, C, E, J, K, L, N, R, S, T, and U type thermocouples. A separate Pt100 channel on the AI843 module is used for measuring the "cold junction" (ambient) temperature and can serve as the cold junction compensation channel for channels 1 through 8 (4-wire Pt100 RTD). The cold junction temperature can be measured locally at the screw terminals of the MTU or at a connection unit located away from the device. The ABB AI843 module also features 16-bit resolution (A/D converter) and includes wire break detection functionality. | |

The S800 I/O is a distributed, modular I/O system that communicates with the controller via PROFIBUS-DP/DPV1 or directly (via the module bus). The S800 I/O system is DIN rail-mounted and consists of a fieldbus communication interface, a module bus modem, S800 I/O modules, and module terminal units (MTUs). The S800 I/O modules are mounted on the MTUs, thus supporting hot-swapping. Several MTUs are available depending on installation requirements (horizontal or vertical) and field wiring needs (power supply, fuses, etc.). The S800 I/O system supports fully redundant applications, allowing for redundancy at both the communication level and the I/O module level.
