The 163179-04 is a Bently Nevada 3500/63 Hazardous Gas Monitor. The 3500/63 Hazardous Gas Monitor is a six-channel monitor used as a component of a safety system, providing different levels of alarms based on combustible gas concentration. The alarms issued by this monitor indicate that the gas concentration has reached a level sufficient to endanger personal safety, potentially leading to explosion or asphyxiation. It is designed for use with heated catalytic bead gas sensors (hydrogen and methane) and displays hazardous gas concentration as a percentage of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL). This monitor can be used in single-channel or redundant (TMR) 3500 rack configurations. This monitor is suitable for confined spaces where combustible gases are used as fuel or where combustible gases are processed, pumped, or compressed. Enclosures around natural gas-fired industrial gas turbines, hydrogen pipeline compressors, or compressor rooms are examples of confined spaces where combustible gases may accumulate. If a leak occurs, the gas can accumulate and reach potentially explosive concentrations. Detecting gas concentrations and issuing alarms is critical to protecting personnel and equipment in the area. When used in a Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) configuration, the hazardous gas monitors must be installed adjacent to each other in groups of three. In this configuration, two types of voting mechanisms are employed to ensure accurate operation and avoid single points of failure.
