Rockwell wins large automation order from Utility Global
Time:Aug 04,2025
Rockwell Automation announced that it was selected by Utility Global to provide control and automation platform for its H2Gen® hydrogen production system.
Utility Global is a clean hydrogen solutions company founded in 2018 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, USA. Its H2Gen® system uses patented "no external power required" electrochemical hydrogen production technology, using hydrogen as raw material, and is suitable for hard decarbonization industries such as steel, transportation, chemicals and oil and gas.
Rockwell Automation will provide the PlantPAx® distributed control system for the project, as well as software and network hardware solutions including FactoryTalk® View, FactoryTalk® AssetCentre, FactoryTalk® Historian and Logix process controllers.
Parker Meeks, president and CEO of Utility Global, said: "Rockwell's automation technology will accelerate our commercial deployment execution capabilities," pointing out that the first system will be commissioned in Houston and the biogas application project is expected to start in 2026.
Michael Sweet, director of Rockwell Automation's new energy department, said that the company's integrated control and information platform will help new energy technologies achieve the required safety, reliability and flexibility in industrial applications. Its integrated solutions help achieve short-term emission reduction goals by accelerating the deployment of scalable, low-carbon energy solutions (such as Utility's H2Gen® system).
This cooperation is seen as an important example of combining industrial automation and clean hydrogen energy, providing new solutions for the clean energy transformation in the industrial field.
Rockwell Automation, Inc. is a leading global provider of industrial automation and digital transformation solutions, focusing on pure automation business. The company is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Its predecessor was Allen® Bradley, founded in 1903, and it became independent from Rockwell International in 2001.
Rockwell products include programmable controllers (such as AB MicroLogix 1500), medium-voltage inverters (such as PowerFlex 7000), process control systems (such as ProcessLogix), motors and drives (Kinetix series), and HMI and industrial software (such as RSView32, etc.), with integrated hardware and software automation platform capabilities.
For Rockwell, this cooperation with Utility Global not only demonstrates its technical strength in the field of new energy, but also reflects the company's strategic layout under the general trend of Industry 4.0 and clean energy transformation. As the global demand for clean energy grows, the application of industrial automation technology in emerging fields such as hydrogen energy will bring new growth opportunities to the industry.
