How are General Electric IS200TDBTH6A terminal board and IS220PDIOH1A Module used for TMR application ?

Multiple IS220PDIOH1A discrete input/output modules and one IS200TDBTH6A terminal block can be configured in a triple redundancy structure within a GE Mark VIe system for mechanical condition monitoring and protection.

The Discrete Input/Output (PDIO) component provides an electrical interface between one or two I/O Ethernet lines and the Discrete Input/Output terminal board. This component includes a processor board common to all Mark* VIe distributed I/O components and a dedicated acquisition board for discrete input/output functionality. The component can accept up to 24 contact inputs, control up to 12 relay outputs, and receive terminal board-specific feedback signals. For simplex applications, it is mounted on the TDBS terminal board, which is equivalent to a combination of the SRLY relay terminal board and the STCI contact input terminal board. For TMR applications, it is mounted on the TDBT terminal board, which, with the WROB option, is equivalent to a combination of the TRLYH1B relay terminal board and the TBCI contact input terminal board. The diagram below shows the connection method when three PDIO modules are mounted on the TDBT terminal board.

The PDIOH1A is compatible with two types of Discrete Contact Input/Output terminal boards: TDBS for single PDIO applications and TDBT for TMR PDIO applications. The following table details compatibility information.

How to Mount an IS220PDIOH1A Module on an IS200TDBTH6A Terminal Board

1. Securely mount the required terminal board.

2. Insert one PDIO I/O module (simplex) or three PDIO I/O modules (TMR) directly into the terminal board connector.

3. Mechanically secure the module using the threaded studs next to the Ethernet ports. The studs slide into mounting brackets specifically designed for terminal board types. The bracket position should be adjusted to ensure that the DC-62 pin connector between the module and the terminal board is not subjected to right-angle forces. This adjustment should only be performed once during the product's lifespan.

4. Insert one or two Ethernet cables, depending on the system configuration. The module can operate through either port. If using dual connections, standard practice is to connect ENET1 to the network associated with the R controller.

5. Power the module by inserting the connector on the side of the module. It is not necessary to insert this connector with the cable power disconnected, as the I/O components have an inherent soft-start capability to control inrush current during power applications.

6. Configure the I/O components as needed.

Note: PDIOs are mounted directly on the Mark VIe terminal board. The simplex terminal block has one DC-62 pin connector for connecting the PDIO. The TMR-enabled terminal block has three DC-62 pin connectors: one for simplex operation, two for full-duplex operation, and three for TMR operation. The PDIO directly supports all of these connections.
